Computer Electronics Engineering Technology

The ComputerElectronics Engineering Technology major offers instruction in the practical aspects of computer and network maintenance and repair, with emphasis on logical troubleshooting techniques. The core courses provide students with a foundation in analog and digital electronics fundamentals, while advanced technical courses provide knowledge in specialized network and infrastructure technology such as fiber optics.

Specific program objectives enable graduates to demonstrate:

  • Entry-level knowledge of computer and network technology,
    and analog and digital electronics.
  • Proficiency in the use of test equipment and diagnostic
    troubleshooting software.
  • Troubleshooting skills of computer and network technology, and analog and digital electronic equipment.
  • Competency in reading, oral and written communication skills
    and proficiency in mathematics.

Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice Technology major is designed to prepare students for entry-level careers in the legal and criminal justice law enforcement fields. The core courses will provide students who graduate from the Criminal Justice Technology program with the knowledge and skill of criminal justice theories, policies, and procedures and a background in information technology. The program will prepare students to perform in governments, law enforcement agencies, juvenile justice, public and private agencies, homeland security, and corrections.

Specific program objectives enable graduates to demonstrate:

  • Possess entry level knowledge of criminology and the criminal justice system
  • Be able to read and understand procedure case law and understand how it affects the law enforcement, juvenile justice, and the legal and correctional systems.
  • Be able to use computer skills in the execution and process of working in the legal environment.
  • Possess knowledge of the inner works of federal, state, and local agencies that are involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Be able to use specific computer technologies, techniques, procedures, and policies in working in the crime scenes and with individuals.
  • Be able to compare and contrast international legal and criminal justice systems and use the knowledge as a guide in working in the American system.
  • Be provided with the foundation for advancement to administrative levels in criminal justice and legal environment.
  • Demonstrate collegiate level competency in reading, oral, and written communication skills, and proficiency in mathematics.

IT/Accounting Administration

Students learn the essential knowledge and skills necessary for career-entry employment in the field of accounting. Students learn financial accounting, including:

  • Statement preparation and analysis
  • Payroll procedures
  • Accounting application

Students learn to operate in the Windows environment and process information using accounting software applications, spreadsheets, and word processing software applications. Manual and computerized case studies are used to emphasize accounting skills.

IT/Business Administration

The Business Administration major provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for graduates to acquire entry-level training-related employment as an office administration specialist in a variety of office settings.

Specific program objectives are designed to enable graduates to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a variety of software applications including word processing, database, spreadsheets, and presentation graphics.
  • Create multi-media presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Be proficient in doing basic research using electronic media.
  • Produce well-designed brochures, newsletters, and posters using desktop publishing software.
  • Be able to demonstrate competency in reading, oral and written communication skills and proficiency in mathematics.

IT/Networking and Security Management

The Information Technology/Networking & Security Management major prepares students with the skills and knowledge necessary for graduates to acquire entry-level training-related employment as a networking or network security specialist within a variety of settings. From the outset of the program, student skills are sharpened, capabilities are enhanced, and earning potential is increased.

Specific program objectives are designed to enable graduates to:

  • Administer and manage networks including security and administrative skills using the latest Windows, UNIX, Novell, and CISCO technologies.
  • Create and manage user and group accounts, configure network.
    routers, and install network appliances such as printers and fax
    machines.
  • Actively assist in the development and implementation of management policies and implementation of a configuration management plan.
  • Assist customers in the day-to-day operations of the network.
  • Participate in software installations, network upgrades, and end user training.
