Find out what Operating System your computer is running by following the steps below.

  1. Turn your computer on
  2. Click on the Start button in the lower left hand side of the screen
  3. From the Start menu select Run.

 

  1. Type winver.exe in the Open field and press OK . This launches an About Windows dialog box, which contains operating system information.

 

 

The above example shows the name of the operating system and service pack level. In this case, the operating system is Windows XP Professional with installed on it. This system meets our minimum operating system requirements.

Note: Not all operating systems display a similar dialog as the above. Older operating systems, such as Windows 95 and NT 4.0 display old style dialogs, such as the following:

As indicated in the above example, the operating system installed on the machine is Windows Microsoft Windows 98, Second Edition. This system does not meet our minimum operating system requirements.
